David Kelly - Bankruptcy Attorney
Hello, I'm David Kelly. Most people call me Dave. I've been practicing law a long time, almost 35 years. It's work I find satisfying because I can genuinely help people. I care about my clients and treat them with respect; and in my dealings with other lawyers, they have learned that they can rely on what I say. That's how I got rated "av" by Martindale-Hubbell, the oldest and most respected lawyer directory in the U.S. This is their highest rating. Years ago a few of my clients gave me a five star rating at Yahoo. More recently I've been given a "very good" rating at AVVO.com. Compared to the reviews, I suspect that the specific details of my personal history aren't that interesting. For those who like to know such things, the rest of this page is devoted to some trivia.
NACBA:
In May of 2008, November of 2009, April of 2010 and November of 2011, I attended two or three days of classes - each time - conducted by the National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys (NACBA). The topics including the following:
- Case Law Updated
- Washington updates
- Mortgage industry updates
- Chapter 7 v. Chapter 13 debates
- Bankruptcy tax issues
- Chapter 13 plan calculations
- Basic bankruptcy issues
- Secured debt issues
- Non-nuclear families and other means test oddities
- Clients with special problems
- U.S. Trustees means test and audits
- Means test - income in
- Means test - expenses out
- Mastering the means test
- Traps in the BAPCPA amendments
- Secured debt case law
- Design of a consumer bankruptcy case
- E-Myth Business Economics
All the classes where at far-away places. I hated to pay for the trips, but those classes were better and more relevant to what I'm doing than anything I could find elsewhere.
